Why is sustainability important to us?

Tyrol, the heart of the Alps

Nature is an essential part of our region and our work and, as such, is particularly susceptible to environmental influences.

It's important to us to protect and preserve this wonderful and unique habitat so that future generations can also enjoy the breathtaking nature. Not only we ourselves, but also our children should be able to recharge their batteries here in this unique natural environment.

This is only possible if we treat nature with respect and if our actions are characterised by sustainability and the conservation of resources. As a family hotel, we have a special obligation.

For some time now, we have been taking major and verifiable steps to avoid harmful processes, to avoid fossil fuels and conserve resources.

Where does our electricity come from and how is it generated?

The electricity at our hotel comes from 100% renewable energy sources from Tyrolean hydropower
and from our own photovoltaic system with over 60 kilowatts peak.

We are very proud to have received the TÜV certificate for this clean energy

The TÜV Austria certificate confirms the regional origin of our household and commercial electricity products: 100% of the green electricity for our comfort+, comfort+ business, eco, eco business, nacht+, nacht+ business and eco agrar products comes from TIWAG's Tyrolean hydroelectric power plants.

As renewable energy sources are subject to far greater fluctuations than, for example, energy generation from fossil fuels or nuclear energy, the controllability of generation and the ability to temporarily store large quantities of energy are becoming increasingly important.
TIWAG, together with its Tyrolean partners and customers, is making a significant contribution to the energy transition in Tyrol and Europe with the environmentally friendly and socially responsible expansion of hydropower and other renewable forms of electricity generation, as well as with our efforts to improve energy efficiency.

Where does our hot water come from?

(from Ortswärme [local heating] Fügen)

How does local heating work?

Natural wood fuels are used in the production of local heating in Fügen. The heating plant was built on the premises of the Binder timber industry. The energy is transported to customers in the form of hot water via the thermally insulated pipe network. In the transfer station, the incoming water heats the domestic heating system and domestic hot water in a heat exchanger. When the incoming water has cooled down due to the heat dissipation, it flows back to the heating plant.

What happens to our rubbish?

Organic waste
Our organic waste is composted or utilised to produce biogas.

Plastic waste
Whether for high-quality plastics that can be marketed directly or for mixed plastics that are processed in our treatment plant for substitute fuels, Nemetz is the right disposal company for your plastics. Many plastics can be recycled almost 100 per cent

General waste
A large proportion of the general waste collected is processed into substitute fuels for the cement industry in our own treatment plants. The residual materials produced here and general waste that cannot be processed are thermally utilised in the waste incineration plant in an environmentally friendly manner.

Do we have electric charging stations?

6 electric charging stations and 1 Tesla Destination charger

The electric charging station should be reserved in advance. You are welcome to charge your electric car for a fee.
